Women of Distinction (a.k.a.), "The Family" is a non-profit 501(c)3 organization founded in 1996 by a group of close friends. The organization consists of African American professional women who are committed to providing a networking and social forum for women in a non-business type atmosphere.

Our Mission:

To establish Women of Distinction (WOD) as the standard of excellence in the LGBT community, through Education, Empowerment, and Entertainment.

Purpose:

Educate: Health, Finance, Family Planning

Empower: Acceptance, Motivation

Entertain: Host Events, Social Networking

The Women of Distinction organization is a private, nonprofit, membership-supported organization. Membership in WOD means that you share the vision to help women with their professional and personal lifestyle growth. You provide the necessary commitment and financial support that allows WOD to plan for the continuation of our many successful community projects/events.

Membership dues are critical to helping WOD grow. They allow us to sustain and expand our events and to create new programs to meet the needs of our community.
